Welcome

"Exercise" and "Cancer" are two terms that at first may seem to contradict each other. "Exercise" implies active living, including mind and body at all ages. On the other hand, "Cancer" is a disease which often dramatically reduces the patient's daily living activity and life expectancy. Nonetheless, during the recent years, it has been shown that physical activity and exercise seems to be effective in preventing the incidence and in fact also improving prognosis in several forms of cancer. Furthermore, exercise training during cancer treatment encourages an active lifestyle and make cancer patients take an active role in their own recovery.
The goal of this international symposium is to discuss the most current knowledge and perspectives about physical activity and cancer, among medical doctors and all other professionals whitch are involved in the best medical and supportive treatment of cancer patients.
This international symposium is made possible by the generous financial support from the listed notable scientific communities and especially the Deutsche Krebshilfe e.V. (German Cancer Aid).
We are very pleased to welcome you to the symposium "Exercise and Cancer 2011" this autumn in Munich.
